FLEEING GENOCIDE:
DISPLACEMENT, EXILE, AND THE REFUGEE
This year's colloquia, funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, seeks to put the past in conversation with the present by exploring the history of genocide and refugees. The program is led by Queensborough Community College Faculty Coordinators: Aliza Atik, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of English; Kathleen Alves, D.A., Assistant Professor of English; and Mirna Lekic, D.M.A., Assistant Professor of Music. These events will explore the genocides that create refugee populations, and examine the challenges facing refugee populations as they seek to find asylum in countries and communities that are often resistant to accepting them.
